What are the best chest exercises in the gym?

For a lot of people, the gym is a large part of their life. Whether they are going 3 times a week, or even 6 or 7 times a week, the gym benefits everyone's overall health. There are many parts of your body that you can work at the gym and all are very important. But, In this blog I will specifically be focusing on chest exercises.

One of the most popular and most valuable chest exercises is definitely flat barbell bench

The bench is the most popular chest exercise. This is because people go for maxes on this lift which is basically lifting as much weight as possible (Example). This is one of the best chest exercises because it allows you to load very heavy weight on your chest and it works all parts of the chest.

Inclined dumbbell press is another of the best chest exercises

This workout focuses on the upper chest which is the most important part of the chest to hit. This workout is a little harder than bench because you must balance the weight at the same time as you are pushing it up. (Example)

Lastly, another one of the best chest exercises is flys.
This exercise consists of pushing your pecs together and closing your chest then opening it back up again (Example). This workout is very good for the inner part of your chest which creates a smaller gap between your 2 pecs. This workout can either be done with a machine (as seen above) or with cables. Doing chest flys with cables takes much better form and is much harder for beginners

In the end, the exercises you do in the gym dictate how your physique looks. Chest is a very important muscle and chest day must be taken seriously. These lifts may be hard, but as Arnold Schwarzenegger once said, “Life may be full of pain but that’s not an excuse to give up.”
